BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM School of the Madeleine will be participating in the General Mills sponsored Box Tops for Education Program. This fundraising program is a great way to earn money for our school when you purchase everyday household products from the grocery store. Box tops will be deposited in a special box located in the school’s office. For more information, call the school’s office at 619-276-6545. UNITED WAY DONATIONS School of the Madeleine is part of the United Way Donation Program. You can designate the school as benefactor for your donation by listing the school and its address. ESTABLISHING SUPPORTING PARISHIONER RATE To establish a supporting parishioner discount rate for future school years, you must use your weekly collection envelopes. If you pay monthly or bi-monthly, you must turn in an empty envelope to demonstrate your consistent attendance and participation in the parish. This must be done for one year (July to June) prior to establishing a supporting parishioner status. See the tuition scale for further information. OPENING DAY COFFEE All parents are invited to our annual morning coffee/tea in the parish hall at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of school. This event is social, as well as informational, and provides a great opportunity to meet new parents and re-establish old friendships. BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC Our annual Back to School picnic will be held Sunday, September 14 between 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. All families are welcome. This is a great opportunity to meet new families and re-establish relationships with returning families. YMCA EXTENDED CARE Extended day care (for kindergarten through eighth grades) will be available beginning Tuesday, September 2. This program opens at 6:45 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. Because our extended care program is a licensed day care provider, it is important that any child who is attending morning or after school care fill out the registration forms. This can be done through the YMCA in Mission valley. Please note that they have a part time rate available to our parents. This part time rate was developed for School of the Madeleine families only and should help many of our parents with extended care costs and provide an additional option. Students that arrive before 7:45 a.m. must immediately report to the day care trailer and have their parents sign them in with the YMCA personnel. Any student who does not report in will be given a detention. From 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., there is an unlicensed extended care program. No sign-in is required after 7:45 a.m. During this time, all students must be seated at the lunch tables in the rear of the main school building. An orderly dismissal from this area will occur with the 8:00 a.m. bell. Please remember that students are not allowed in front of the school building (even with a parent) before the bell rings at 8:00 a.m. These procedures are important for the safety of our students. Thank you for your cooperation. POLICY FOR PARENT VOLUNTEERS Please remember in order to volunteer when students are present, you must have viewed the Safe School Environment video and be cleared through the live scan process. This will enable you to help or work with students in a variety of ways. For example: driving on field trips, working in classrooms, supervising on lunch duty, helping with the Halloween carnival, or being an athletic coach.
