"Music is integral to the Funeral rites. It allows the community to express convictions and feelings that word alone may fail to convey.
It has the power to console and uplift the mourners and to strengthen the unity of the assembly in faith and love.
The texts of the songs chosen for a particular celebration should express the paschal mystery
of the Lord's suffering, death, and triumph over death and should be related to the readings from Scripture.”
(The Order of Christian Funerals)
Dear Family,
We are sorry for your loss, we pray that the peace of God will be with you as your loved one is welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. The music selections below, exemplify the intent suggested above by the Order of Christian Funerals. If you do have a favorite hymn of your own that you would like celebrated at the liturgy for your loved one that is not on this list, please do not hesitate to ask. We suggest our music ensemble for your service that includes piano, cello and cantor. The remuneration is $300, payable in advance. You may contact Tess Nelson, Director of Music for payment details. We ask that you honor our policy of selecting our staff musicians for your celebration. If you have a family member or special friend you would like incorporated into the service, please let Mrs. Nelson know. Often we can accommodate that request during the prelude or you might think about having that person perform at another celebration honoring your loved one.
