Young Voices Palm Sunday Music and Audio Files

On Palm Sunday, we will be singing at the 9am Mass.
We will begin outdoors, in front of the Church. There will be two readings and then we will process into the Church.

Young Voices choir will be responsible for the processional song

We will be singing 'Little Gray Donkey.' We will use guitar for this song so please don't let Mrs. Nelson be the only one playing guitar!
Even if you are not singing, please join us in playing the guitar! Check out the music below, easy!

You will need a strap since we will be walking.

We will also be playing guitar on the Recessional Hymn, Were You There.
Again, easy chords on that song too!
If you have any questions, please ask!

REHEARSAL IS  Wednesday, March 20th 6-6:40pm   IN THE CHURCH

This music will also be used at the School Masses.
Lyric sheets can be found here:

PROCESSIONAL
play the guitar on this!
Chords: D, Em, A

Little Gray Donkey    click title for guitar music!
Little gray donkey, little gray donkey, little gray donkey, ho.(repeat)

Do you know just who it is you carry on your back?
‘Tis no ordinary load, no mean or common pack.
You are blessed of all beasts to carry into town

Christ the Lord of Gallilee, He wears no earthly crown.

Little gray donkey, little gray donkey, little gray donkey, ho.(repeat)

Once you were a simple beast of poor and lowly state.
Christ Himself has chosen you and honored is your fate.
Though your path with palms is spread, make haste along the way;

You were destined here to ride on this triumphant day.

Little gray donkey, little gray donkey, little gray donkey, ho.(repeat)

Yonder is a grassy hill; it’s known as Calvary.
Up against the cloudless sky a barren cross you see.
Little gray donkey, Little gray mare, don’t hide your head in shame.
For you bear the Lamb of God, and Jesus is His name.

Little gray donkey, little gray donkey, little gray donkey, ho.(repeat)

OFFERTORY

Jesu, Jesu

Jesu, Jesu,
Fill us with Your love, show us how to serve
The neighbors we have from You.(repeat)

Neighbors are rich and poor,
Neighbors are black and white,
Neighbors are near and far away.
Refrain
Jesu, Jesu,
Fill us with Your love, show us how to serve
The neighbors we have from You.

These are the ones we should serve,
These are the ones we should love;
All these are neighbors to us and You.

Jesu, Jesu,
Fill us with Your love, show us how to serve
The neighbors we have from You.(

COMMUNION

Behold the Cross (learn this only if you have time)
Behold the cross on which was hung
life’s very Lord, God’s only Son;
Mary’s own babe, so cold and so still,
helpless before her on Calvary hill.

Nails in his hands, nails in his feet,
a traitor kiss upon his cheek;
and his pierced heart, now broken in two,
love crucified for me and for you.

Eyes that won’t see, ears that won’t hear,
lips that deny the friend once so dear;
slowly he turns and captures your eye,
then passes on to Calv’ry to die.

Behold the cross of Christ in our midst:
all those who bear his wounds in their flesh.
Suff’ring for crimes of mercy and peace,
signs of the kingdom on Calvary street.

Behold the cross on which was hung
life’s very Lord, God’s only Son;
Mary’s own babe, so cold and so still,
helpless before her on Calvary hill.

RECESSIONAL

Were You There   Click title for the words with guitar chords!

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh ---- sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Oh ---- sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
Oh ---- sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
